Twitter don’t need SEO
Greetings All,
I spotted this post over at Dave Naylor’s blog today.
In the post, he & the commentors are berating twitter for ‘getting it wrong’ – “I bet their inhouse SEO feels like a right cock now”.
Do they (twitter) really care though? do they need their pages to be ranked in google? do they need trending topics (which are just links to searches) to be indexed? would google index links to search results anyway? My guess is that twitter couldn’t give a rats ass about SEO – what do you think?

Agreed, the word ‘optimisation’ say is all really, why do they need to optimise it for google, last time I checked, the site was doing OK

Twitter has signed a deal with Microsoft to share their live data and have enough apps to connect to the twitter service. Google already uses twitter results in its main search. You don’t need SEO when they come to you for information. Also what would they need SEO for? If twitter was all over the search engine results it would be classed as spammy and even worse removed from the search for little content. You can find twitter results in the search engines just fine, they don’t need to rank highly as it is not twitters main form traffic. Word of mouth is the biggest pusher for twitter at the moment and with so many options to interact with the twitter application the developers do the SEO and marketing work for them.
In sort that guy does not anything and frankly should go back to his hole… and maybe die.
